It's the title of the review posted (in french) by Evelyne following her stay in September 2019.
Indeed, going to Camping La Romiguière is really going Elsewhere. And you will arrive in an Amazing place...
Elsewhere...
Elsewhere because we are disoriented when arriving here. Some vacationers come only from Laguiole or Espalion; less than 25 km, and we are disoriented. We are Elsewhere...
Elsewhere because you won't find Camping La Romiguière by chance. You look for an isolated place, far from nowhere and you arrive here. Elsewhere...
Elsewhere because after driving the national roads and the highway, you arrive by these magnificent small roads, winding and steep. Large spaces, lakes and valleys, flowers, birds. You really seem to have changed country. You arrived elsewhere ...
Where you will be Amazed...
Amazed by the calm of the place. Even in the height of summer, when the campsite is full. The children play, a saxophone awakens the night, the rooster announces the sunrise. Nothing but the simple sounds of life. But a feeling of calm. Amazing.
Amazed by these ever more striking sunsets. Every evening new colors. And this sky ... sheltered from light pollution ... When was the last time you saw the Milky Way? Amazing.
Amazed by the people here. Sometimes the first approach can be a little rough, but we are always ready to inform you and help you. Unusual also sometimes those who come to the campsite. Observe, listen and let yourself be jostled, it's amazing.
So, far from standard and impersonal campsites, come and have an Amazing experience in an Elsewhere in the heart of Aubrac.
We are waiting for you !
Want an amazing and refreshing ride ? Visit the Bozouls Canyon !
Bozouls is roughly halfway between Espalion and Rodez. The Dourdou River has dug limestone for millennia to draw a loop of 400 meters in diameter with vertical walls 100 meters high.
Starting from Camping La Romiguière, get off by Estaing then directly Bozouls (without passing through Espalion!). The easiest way is to park near the Town Hall. Walk to the promontoir where you can admire the impressive canyon with its church on the central spur ... whaou! ...
Take a left on the sloping lanes to reach the trail that runs through the chasm along the river. The decor invites to look up to admire the work of water and time.
Several hiking trails are marked. Choose yours!
Then going back to the old village and its church in the middle of the circus, the view is beautiful. Continue the path that descends again, crossing here a garden, a there a cave ... it's adventure ... children love!
On the way back, admire the waterfall then go back to the town hall by the alleys which, curiously, seem steeper to the ascent to the descent!
After this beautiful afternoon, take the time to relax on the beach of the campsite ...
A visit that will delight young and old: Calmont's Castle is the perfect visit for all the family.
Calmont's Castle overlooks the town of Espalion. From up there, the view is splendid. The Lot meanders below in the heart of a valley with hamlets, you can see the Aubrac mountains.
The castle, which is constantly undergoing renovation, has an architecture typical of fortified castles of the year 1000.
But we visit Calmont d'Olt especially for the entertainment ! Coin minting, forging swords, shots (real!) with the "couillard" or black powder cannon. Spectacular and interesting.
Children, dressed up as knights or princesses adore. And the big ones too !
It is really a "best of" not to be missed.
Our advice : go to the castle around 1 p.m. to take the time to visit and then attend the shooting demonstrations...
For the opening dates and times of the events, see the official website of Chateau de Calmont : https://www.chateaucalmont.org
A beautiful ruin at more than 900 meters altitude which offers a superb 360 ° panorama over the Cantal mountains, the Aubrac, the Lot valley...
That's a pretty jewelery not easy to find ... the panels are tiny or missing ... so here are the GPS coordinates : 44.7555991 / 2.7408667
From the castle, there are some beautiful stones to explore to discover the old cellars, the rooms ... young knights and young princesses will love !
Let yourself go to the reverie among these stone trees, let your eyes flee far away, very far...
Our advice: go to the Castle to wait for the sunset from the dungeon's terrace...
A truly magical place!
Starting from the campsite La Romiguière, take the direction of Nayrac. At the level of the locality "Le Fabrou" a sign indicates to the right "Site de Bèz-Bédène". A little further, at Ouilhas, turn left (very small sign ...) and follow this mysterious road that leads to the old bridge.
Park the car after the bridge, right. From there, a path leaves towards Maury but, turning back, cross the magnificent bridge to take on the right the circuit of Bèz-Bédène.
Walking shoes, stick, a bottle of water, the topo that you kindly get for free at the Camping, you walk in the hardwood forest. Pass the cave to the wolves, then cross what could almost look like a Breton moor or sometimes even a Corsican maquis. From there, the view of the village is splendid. The descent into a very arid area, takes you to the climbing site, then to the river (La Selve) then the trail back to the village through the flower gardens.
Take the cool in the church where are exposed chasubles overhead before taking the road down to the bridge find the car.
If you have a little time and strength, go all the way from the rock spur to the moving stone....
From the deep valleys of the Lot and the Truyères to the high lands rising up to 1400 meters, the Aubrac is sprinkled with burons, lakes and wild forests.
At once rough and welcoming, the Aubrac invites you to discover.
Humility of the people who live there for more than 1000 years, power of the mountains, richness of the fauna and the flora. Evasion.
The lakes laid here and there, like mirrors, jealously convent peat bogs and brown trout. Here a stream splits the velvet of the meadow, there a cascade caresses the columns of basalt.
Walk, smell, listen ... observe the deer and the deer, the heron and the kite, the gentian and the narcissus ...
At the end of May each year, the Aubrac cows Transhumance offers a festive and colorful show.
At Camping La Romiguière, we offer you walking topos and excursions to help you discover our secret places on the Aubrac.
Nested in the heart of a green setting, Conques is the obligatory passage on the way of Saint Jacques. The very name of this village evokes the shell, symbol of the famous pilgrimage.
Here the slate of schist is omnipresent, both on the roofs of the houses, arranged in espalier and facing south, as for the paving of the streets.
Stroll, lose yourself in the small alleys, to finally discover the Abbey of Sainte-Foy, famous for its tympanum representing the Last Judgment and its treasure including unique pieces of art from the Carolingian period, including the reliquary statue of Saint Foy.
The stained glass windows, made by Pierre Soulage, give a discreet modern touch to the building.
But there is so much to discover in Conques. The Pont de Pélerins, the Saint Roch chapel, the ramparts ... Enough to spend a beautiful day.
Take time !
Conques is about an hour from Camping La Romiguière, via Entraygues-sur -Truyère.
